About Bamboo:
Bamboo floors' popularity has increased over the past few years as people have become more aware of the fragile state of the environment.
Because it is a grass rather than a wood, it grows far more quickly than a tree. The plant's extensive root system continually grows underground and it replenishes itself naturally, as grass does.
New growth, which springs out of the ground and can mature up to 24" in  24 hours and unlike trees, bamboo will regenerate quickly, making it a renewable resource.

Carbonized Bamboo: Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within, to change its color.

Did you know?
An estimated 60-70 million Americans are affected by house dust, which can cause itchy eyes, sneezing, rashes, breathing difficulty and sinus trouble because of trapped pollens and molds in carpets, upholstery and curtains.
Not even frequent vacuuming will eliminate those microscopic troublemakers.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

  • Q:

You mentioned this is glue or nail down, can I use to install on vertical wall? I reviewed one of your videos on installing wood flooring on walls with the double-sided tape, will this flooring work for my project?
Asked on 8/14/2017 by Tina Seagroves from Colorado Springs CO

      A:

While we do not have any manufacturer's specifications on how to do ceiling or wall installations, we have had customers install on them using Tongue and Groove flooring. One method used is to ring shank or screw plywood first on the rafters/studs and then fasten flooring to plywood. Softer woods, lower profile (thinner), and engineered flooring would be easier to nail over your head.  Fastening can be done with finish nailers or hand nailing. Ring shank nails can hold better than standard finish nails.

Longer average lengths like you get with our pine flooring or v-groove pine that may be locally sourced at a local mill or lumber yard can be nailed to rafters on 16" centers. 24" centers could require 1x3 strapping or plywood.

Other methods include double sided tape which can be used with engineered and laminate flooring.

Ceiling and wall installation is considered experimental and not warrantied.

  • Q:

Is this really 3/8? I brought in an older sample of 5/8 x 3 3/4 carbonized bamboo from another MFG that I wanted to buy more of but they no longer stock it. I put it beside this one on display and the height and width were almost identical. I went on the site just now and noticed it is 3/8 not 5/8 so does that mean the display piece was incorrect or do you have the wrong dimensions listed on this site?

      A:

We have not sold 5/8" bamboo for a few years now, perhaps the backer board on the display sample added up to 5/8"?

  • Q:

I am debating putting this 3/8" major brand horizontal carbonized bamboo flooring in my bedrooms and hallway. I cant find anything on the jenka rating for this product. I have dogs and want to know if I should go with something that is harder and more durable or if this will be ok.
Asked on 5/6/2016 by Pat from Rochester, NY

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Strand Bamboo is better with dogs because it is much harder than Horizontal Bamboo. Having dogs myself I would avoid horizontal bamboo.
