We purchased this based on the resilient label and the fact that it would resist moisture. We installed 2 rooms, with 2 more and a foyer to go. The smallest movement of furniture causes a permanent scratch. Something as simple as scooting out a dining chair from a table mars the flooring permanently. Don't waste your money.

The install is great, I left this because I saw some saying things related to tapping together with scrap pieces.

I use to install hardwood and pergo (and tile)

The pergo install kit has spacers ( nice and useful) but the more important is their tapping block and bar. Use carefully but no need for scrap piece and the bar is nice for when you hit a door jam or wall and need to tap in the piece

SO easy to cut and install - our problem was the weird cuts we had to make in a smallish bathroom with a closet! Felt like graduate level work at some points, but now that we've tackled the hardest room first, we are ready to do the rest!! Product worked exactly as expected, but I agree with the other reviewer: the tracks on the side can be fragile. BE CAREFUL when "tapping" in with a piece of scrap and a hammer; make sure track and lock are placed correctly, or groove will crack off and then next piece has nothing to grab. Sometimes working last piece in place within tight spaces was hard - plan to try heating end, as another reviewer mentioned, next time. Also, was worried this shade (Lake Cedar..) would be too dark, but it was PERFECT. Remember that one piece samples can be misleading. Overall, VERY happy with result. Altho replacing the quarter round in the bathroom took as long as laying the floor. Hazards with job though...

The portion of the plank that snaps to other planks is a bit fragile.
Ordered for pick-up; took a long time to get materials, but the guy at the dock was friendly and helped load the truck quickly.

Needed a floor for that can handle occasional dog pee. This floor will not swell like a laminate when wet or soak up urine odor. Fits tight together with an interlocking lip. Able to complete the whole house without a break or threshold between rooms. Very easy to cut with a razor blade. Heat with a torch to make it flexible for more intricate cuts. This is a heavy floor, 1200 square feet = 2500 pounds. Floor has a texture that is nice. Scratches hide well with a brown sharpie marker.

Once we got the hang of installation, it went down quickly. We completed a 250sqft room in less than 6 hours (2 people). There were several peices in the box that had damage (scratches, broken edges, etc), so we tried to use those on the ends. I recommend cutting some scrap peices to use as your tappers. Tap in on both sides to make sure it locks all around. The first three rows are the hardest. Cutting is easy and can be done from the front or back side. It looks great in my home office and feels great on my bare feet.

The best part is there's no gluing or underpayment that's required. Will be doing the rest of my house in this!!

Super easy to install. Cuts clean with a bit of scoring with a utility knife and snap it clean. Can be cut with a durable pair of scissors for cutting around the toilet flange. Bends under doorways easily to make some of those trickier spots manageable.

Less of a complaint and more of a tip to be mindful of is the bits where the pieces connect to each other. They are quite thin and easy to break off and chip when using a pull bar. At least when you're as impatient and brutal as I am with a hammer!

I helped my contractor install approximately 1000sf of this flooring in a hot yoga studio, reception area, bathroom, and shower room. It was easy to install and with a professional running the saw the cuts were perfect. I have a few areas where the seams were not perfectly set, but we filled the gaps and stained them a similar color and they are pretty much invisible. I originally went without an underlayment, but my contractor wouldn't have it. We are a few hours away from Lumber Liquidators store so I had to go with a cheap underlayment from a big box store. I love it with the underlayment, I'd recommend it. 3 days after opening the studio I had an inconsiderate student use the shower and there was water ALL over the floor. I wiped it up and there was no problem. We have a studio dog and lots of foot traffic and we haven't had any problems with scratches. My contractors were responsible for a few...dragging a saw horse across it and leaving nails on the floor. Students are so cautious when they come in they wipe their feet really well when coming in from the snowy weather...they don't want to ruin our beautiful "hard wood floor". I tell them not to worry, it's fake wood and waterproof. They are very surprised. I couldn't be happier with the floor or the color.

                  • Q:

After months of investigating floors, we had come to the decision to put this floor in our entire home, doing living room and hallways first, was basically told that this floor would be able to handle all of our situations, kids, grandchild, animals. Have laminate floor in kitchen, don't like the shine on it, shows every footsteps, drips etc, wanted a matte finish. We ran out at the end of the hallway, and already in the living room, floor has scratches all over it. I am very mad, I basically feel like I was lied to. And we have barely any furniture in there, and very little action as we have been putting the floor in. I am not seeing this as a complaint, as I said I did my investigating, and I am sad and unhappy, because this floor is stunning and wanting to finish the rest of my home with it????? Any suggestions????? We have pads under all furniture.......???

                  • Q:

Any idea the dimensional stability of the Tranquility planks? I'm tucking it under the edged of a carpet that is "rolled over" onto itself, and there's not a lot of extra room - maybe 0.4" to slip it under. Of course, I will leave the required 1/4" gap, but I'm worried about contraction revealing the edge of the plank. Distance is 11 feet. I'll install a transition piece if needed, but I would rather try to tuck it under the carpet. Can I get by with less than the 1/4" gap mentioned given the short distance since T moldings are only needed for runs of 50' or longer?

You should be fine considering the 11' span and the fact that 0.4" is plenty of space.

I am looking at something for my basement floor. I had water in there twice in the last four years that ruined carpet. Will this flooring hold up to water if it become submerged?

Vinyl is absolutely water proof, that said; areas of high moisture can create mold and mold can stick to the flooring. Controlling moisture would be best. For tips on how to have a dry basement type, "moisture" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101

Yes it is flexible but depending on how "uneven" may not stay together over an irregular substrate.

We put this floor down in our kitchen, hallway and both front and back landing. My problem is we dropped a coffee mug in the kitchen and it shattered and left and deep scratch in the floor. I don't know how to fill it in and color it to match. I would love to do the living room to match since it connects, but I am questioning it.( kids and animals )

Wax filler sticks, stain markers and color-putty are available at your local paint store or home center used for minor floor repairs. This process is used to fill-in dents, nicks and gouges. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Often several colors are used to blend colors for exotic species bring a scrap piece of the flooring to match it up. Thank you for your inquiry.
